The Market @ Circa 1857 is not your average antique store. It boasts more than 50 vendors whose unique tastes and styles are illustrated through their finds and wares. The building itself is a funky jewel that is full of stories. When you leave The Market, you too will have a unique story about your experience: a story that you’ll want to share and relive with your friends the next time you come back.
Circa 1857, a complex of nearly 10 small, art-based businesses, came about in 2001 after a massive overhaul and remodel and has been an iconic Baton Rouge destination since.
Currently owned by Garrett J. Kemp, a 22 year old entrepreneur, The Market @ Circa 1857 is a visual oasis and haven for those who are thirsting for something a little different when it comes to art, architecture and antiques. The funky, maze-like layout of stalls and booths keeps our customers interested throughout their visit, whilst listening to some great tunes and soaking in the positive energy. “It is our goal to have a fun and fresh spin on the antique world” Kemp said soon after taking ownership.
The complex hosts many events open to the public as often as possible. “We want our patrons to come and have a good time every time they come to our complex and we pride ourselves on our ability to throw a good party. It’s essential to keep our customers happy, as, without them, we couldn’t thrive”.
