Pottery Workshop!

Come to Circa 1857 on Thursday May 2nd for our first ever pottery workshop. In this class you’ll learn basic principles of working with clay. You’ll have the options to create a cup, mug, bowl or whatever else your heart desires!

The class will be lead by Denise Cone, who has been teaching for years! This is a handbuilding class, so it may get a little messy; therefore, dress comfortably! You’ll create a masterpiece that evening. Afterwards, we’ll fire the pieces for you and return them to Circa 1857 where you can later pick them up.

The course is $65 and includes all the essential tools and supplies you’ll need. Wine and hors d’ouvres will be provided also. This class is limited to 20 people. Beginners and professionals alike are welcome.

As always, we’ll have free & unlimited champagne all evening, as well as great local music, local artisans, and great food.  All this for only $5! Really! Only $5!

A few things will be different this year…

  1. We’ve moved Champarty from a Thursday night to a FRIDAY!
  2. We’ll have a VIP Room, which includes amenities like private bars, separate bathrooms, a place to sit and rest, and more. More information to come soon.
  3. If you attended last year, you may have noticed that the line wrapped almost two blocks down the street just to get in. This year, we’re fixing that. We’re determined to make a more enjoyable experience each year, and will make sure to have enough staff to keep that line moving quickly, so that you can fully enjoy your evening!
  4. We’ll have more artists than ever before!

Flow Art Painting Class- October Edition

Our first art demo was such a huge success, we’ve decided to do it again!

In this class, not only will you have tons of fun, but you will learn the basics of flow art, a painting trend that combines paint and chemicals, making some ‘far out’ imagery.

Denise Kerr, a long time art teacher, will lead the class, beginning with a short introduction to the scientific compounds this technique involves. Next, we’ll demonstrate a few techniques you can use to achieve a beautiful finished product. Once we get through the basics, it’s time to CREATE!

The class is scheduled for October 12, 2018, at 6:00 until 8:00. You may stay longer if more time is needed to finish your masterpiece, or just to socialize!

The class is $50 per person, which includes all the materials (paint, brushes, canvas, chemicals, etc.), wine & beer, and light hors d’oeuvres. A portion of the fee goes to the instructor, but additional tips can be left at your discretion.

Limited space available. Max class size is 15 people.

The fun you’ll have is priceless.

– – – – –

Creating a gallery wall is perhaps the best way to bring your personality into any room. Just the same that nobody is exactly like you, no two gallery walls are identical (or should be).

Recently, I participated in an article for 225 Magazine (click here if you’d like to read it!) where I gave some tips and pointers to create a gallery wall. Of all the tips I gave, perhaps the most important is to put on your wall what makes you happy and proud.

If you’re anything like me, you have mementos that bring back great memories of all the things you’ve seen and all the places you’ve been. For me, I feel a great sense of nostalgia daily as I walk by my jam-packed walls, thinking back on so many great memories. All of the pieces I have genuinely mean something to me, whether I got it in Morocco, or got it at Ogden Park Prowl.

There are no right or wrong answers to a gallery wall, in my opinion. Once again, set it up in whatever way makes you comfortable.

Good luck!

We’re got French Provincial, British Colonial, Danish Modern, American Traditional and so much more. The store is packed full of one of a kind items! We pride ourselves on being a very multi-cultural and international store.

It’s always so much fun to see these unique pieces and the way they’re built and constructed based on where they’re from in the world! Truly remarkable.
